McLaren names Intel as official compute partner in new multi-year technology deal

McLaren Racing and Intel, involving McLaren Mastercard Formula One (F1) Team, Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team and the McLaren F1 sim racing team. Have announced a multi-year technology partnership with Intel becoming the team’s official compute partner supplying advanced computing technologies. The partnership with Intel will see branding appearing on McLaren’s F1 cars starting at the Montreal Grand Prix next weekend.

Both organisations emphasise shared goals of innovation, speed and high performance computing.

Zak Brown, CEO McLaren Racing said: “Intel has already been an important part of our technology ecosystem and their leadership in computing will play a critical role in how we design, build and race our cars.”

McLaren highlights Intel’s role in strengthening their ability to “innovate at scale,” while Intel frames the partnership as a chance to push the limits of real time analytics and transform data into competitive advantage.

Under the agreement, Intel technologies will support McLaren Racing in turning large volumes of data into actionable insight through a secure scalable compute foundation.

Lip-Bu Tan, CEO Intel added: “Intel is proud to be McLaren Racing’s compute partner and to be part of a team that thrives on precision, speed and innovation.”

This includes track side edge computing to enable real time analytics and race day decision making.

As part of the partnership, Intel branding will be featured on the McLaren F1 Team cars, starting from the Montreal race next weekend.

Tan commented: “Formula One and IndyCar are some of the ultimate proving grounds for high performance racing.”

Brown mentioned: “Performance in IndyCar and Formula One racing is driven by technology and partnering with Intel strengthens our ability to innovate at scale.”

Branding will appear on one of the McLaren IndyCar team cars at this year’s Freedom 250 in Washington DC and at the iconic Indy500 race from 2027.
