Alpine goes yellow again: Mercado Libre's iconic livery returns in Miami makeover built for maximum

The Latin American fire has officially hit the asphalt: Alpine has transformed the A526 into a high visibility tribute to the Mercado Libre yellow, signalling that the “Colapinto effect” is no longer just a trend – it’s a full blown continental takeover. The prominent Mercado Libre “handshake” logo is taking centre stage on the engine cover and rear wing, replacing the team’s standard blue dominance with a punchy, high contrast yellow that is designed to pop under the Florida sun. Beyond the marketing, Alpine positions this as a reflection of their own corporate DNA, a partnership built on global ambition, precision and the driver to help Latin American talent make a mark on the pinnacle of motorsport.

The livery replaces the standard BWT pink and team blue primary rear section with high visibility, saturated yellow. This creates a striking visual contrast that helps the car stand out in a grid currently crowded with dark carbon and “safe” corporate liveries. The attire is a continuation of a successful experiment from late 2025. It’s return for 2026 confirms that it has become more than a “one off” marketing gimmick: it is now a core part of how the team engages with the massive, growing Formula One (F1) audience in Latin America.

The reaction has been fascinating mix of praise for the branding strategy and critical debate over the car’s overall colour palette. A recurring theme in the comments is that fans want Alpine to go all in. Many have jokingly suggested that Alpine should ditch blue and pink entirely together with just run the full yellow Mercado Libre car. There is a sense of “teasing” fans love the yellow but feel like it’s being held back by the team’s need to keep the BWT/Alpine corporate branding visible. Professional photographers and media personnel have praised the decision, noting that the Mercado Libre yellow provides an excellent “anchor” for wide angle shits making it significantly easier to identify against the bright, saturated backdrop of the Miami circuit.

It could be argued that the Alpine Mercado Libre special livery is a masterclass in regional marketing that falls just short of being an iconic design because of its “sticker slap” execution. Feels like they took their standard, somewhat cluttered A526 livery and simply pasted a giant yellow block on the engine cover. It clashes rather than co-ordinates with the permanent BWT pink and Alpine blue. Lacking the cohesive flow of a “clean sheet” special livery.

✍ Strip away the noise and the numbers tell a clear story: who adapted, who gambled and who blinked. But reviews are only the half the truth - the other half comes from you. What stood out most in your eyes?
