Habsburg stays the course: Alpine retains Austrian ace for third straight WEC hypercar campaign in 2026
Ferdinand Habsburg, Austrian racing driver and Alpine Endurance Team, the manufacturer he races for in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Have announced that Habsburg will contest his third consecutive hypercar season with Alpine in the 2026 FIA WEC season. Habsburg aims to build on a breakthrough 2025 campaign where the highlight came at Fuji Speedway in Japan where he won Alpine’s 100th WEC race.
Habsburg is returning because he had a strong 2025 season with Alpine, including four top seven finishes and has been a key part of Alpine’s hypercar project since joining in 2024.
Ferdinand Habsburg, Alpine Endurance Team Driver said: “You can’t believe how happy I am to participate in all eight rounds with this team and particularly Le Mans, where we will do our absolute best and try our damn hardest to go for the win this year.”
Alpine sees him as an experienced, reliable driver capable of pushing the programme forward.
Last season, Habsburg was part of the triumphant #35 crew in the championship’s milestone 100th race at Fuji, where he celebrated an emotional success with stablemates Paul Loup Chatin and Charles Milesi.
Philippe Sinault, Alpine Endurance Team Principal said: “He will be one of our key strengths for this new campaign, I am proud and delighted to be able to count upon him for his third season with the team.”
Since then, Antonio Felix da Costa and highly rated single seater convert Victor Martins have bolstered the French manufacturer’s line up alongside the incumbent Frederic Makowiecki which means Alpine has only two seats left to fill in its pair of potent blue A424 hypercars for the forthcoming campaign.
