Genesis magma fires up! Team locks in final hypercar stars for 2026 WEC showdown

 



Genesis Magma Racing, the new Korean hypercar entrant in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Have announced the final two drivers completing Genesis Magma Racing’s two car hypercar line up for 2026 with Methieu Jaminet and Paul Loup Chatin bringing top tier endurance racing experience. The team’s prototype, the Genesis GMR-001 is based on the ORECA chassis in addition to undergoing successful testing at MotorLand Aragon.


Aiming to major on experience for its maiden hypercar campaign blending seasoned champions with rising talents.

Chatin, said: “First and foremost, I would like to say thank everyone who made this opportunity possible. After two enriching years with Alpine Endurance Team and the recent success at Fuji, I feel more ready than ever to take on this new challenge.”

The addition of Jaminet and Chatin ensures a balanced line up combining proven race winners with developmental expertise. With the project reflects Hyundai Motor Group’s ambition to establish Genesis as a global motorsport brand.


The drivers’ performance and the internal dynamics will be assessed by Genesis Magma Racing’s senior management, led by Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini and Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul to determine the exact composition of its two hypercar crews fro 2026.

Tarquini, said: “The addition to Mathieu and Paul-Loup completes a well balanced line up for our debut season in FIA WEC.”

As the Paul Ricard based outfit embarks upon its final preparations in anticipation of its competitive bow in Qatar next March, both men are confident that the new recruits will further strengthen Genesis’ stable of driving talent.
