Williams throws it back! Iconic 2002 livery returns to celebrate Atlassian partnership





Williams Racing and Atlassian, a global leader in collaboration software joined forces to highlight shared values of teamwork as well as innovation. Have announced a special throwback livery inspired by the team’s 2022 FW24 design, unveiled on the FW47 and driven by Carlos Sainz plus Alex Albon at the US Grand Prix. Revealed at a special event at Lone Star Ranch in Austin, Texas and raced at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA).


Celebrating Atlassian’s founding year (2002), honouring the Williams legacy and showcase how both organisations have thrived through teamwork, resilience in addition to innovation.

Mike Cannon-Brookes, CEO of Atlassian, said: “Our beginning were similar – two mates with big ideas and lots of passion, ready to do something big.”

With Atlassian now powering Williams’ digital transformation and engineering workflows.

The livery is a visual representation of how both Williams and Atlassian have survived in addition to thriving in the face of relentless change since 2002 through harnessing power of team work as well as how both are determined to return the team to glory.


The one-off special design, unveiled by Carlos Sainz alongside Atlassian Co-founder and CEO Cannon-Brokes together with 2002 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

Juan Pablo Montoya, 2002 Williams Driver, said: “It is incredible to think about how much has changed in F1 since 2002 but the key ingredients for success have remained the same.”

Commemorates the year Atlassian was founded and showcases the shared histories as well as values of two teamwork powerhouses.

Carlos Sainz, Atlassian Williams Racing Driver, said: “The FW47 looks incredible in this 2002 retro livery which I am sure will be a fan favourite and I can’t wait to drive it at Austin this weekend.”

The two organisations joined forces at the start of the year to accelerate Williams’ mission to return to the front of the grid.
