Sky's the limit! F1 locks in New Zealand fans with extended broadcast blitz

Formula One (F1) and Sky New Zealand, the country’s leading sports broadcaster has announced a multi-year extension of their broadcast partnership, continuing a relationship that began in 2016. Ensuring Sky continues to deliver live coverage of every F1 session, including practice, qualifying, Sprints and Grand Prixs. Providing coverage across its linear TV channels and Sky Sport Now streaming platform.


Maintaining F1’s strong presence in New Zealand, offering fans comprehensive, high quality coverage, incorporating expert analysis, commentary and exclusive content tailored to the local audience.

Adam Crothers, Head of Content Partnerships at Sky, said: “Formula One has captured the hearts of New Zealanders like never before.”

Race highlights of all other F1 races will also be offered to New Zealanders free to air ensuring fans across the country can enjoy the action.


The surge of Kiwi interest, including from the “Liam Lawson effect” has seen F1 viewership on Sky significantly increase in 2025.

Ian Holmes, Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer at Formula One, said: “With the advent of Liam Lawson, we continue to see a surge in Kiwi supporters who are tuning in to back their hometown hero.”

Formula One Lenovo Japanese Grand Prix 2025, despite Lawson’s tough finish drew the highest engagement so far this season, thanks to its favourable time zone and thrilling race dynamics.
